Loudener: Inflator inspired plugin for Reaper

You know the famous Inflator plugin?

It's «A unique and powerful plugin to increase loudness, without sacrificing sonic quality or dynamic range». So, reading from their website what they sell you is a magical plugin that can add power to your mix and get "free" loudness, but they never say anywhere how it actually works.

So how does it work?

Turns out it's a waveshaper, nothing more. Someone calculated the almost exact shaping function of the Inflator, and I built this simple JSFX plugin for REAPER so you too can take advantage of the Inflator's for FREE (or at the price of a small donation, if you want to). And if you don't use REAPER, you still can load this plugin on any DAW that supports VST by using the ReaJS plugin that it's included in the ReaPlugs suite, and it's also free.

In addition, I have included the "Clip 0 dB" function, which works like the original one: it affects the behavior of the plugin when clipping. However, the "Band split" button is missing, and I don't know if I'm going to implement this function. Basically, this allows the plugin to work on 3 separate bands. The crossover frequencies are at ~300 Hz and ~2 kHz, so with a little routing and some filtering you can recreate this feature in your DAW.

How to install?

You will download a small zip file that contains a "SamAudio" folder (which contains a JSFX plugin alongside its graphic assets). Just move it into the resource directory of your REAPER installation, under "Effects". You can access the path by selecting "Show REAPER resource path in explorer/finder...", under the Option menu inside the DAW. Remember to do a plugin scan! You will then find the Loudener plugin in the Browse FX window.

It works on any platform supported by REAPER or the ReaJS VST.
